The shores of North Devon and Somerset team with a wealth of marine plants and animals. So special is this area of coastal waters that in 1994 part of it was designated a Voluntary Marine Conservation Area (VMCA).
Stretching from Combe Martin to the edge of Woolacombe Sands, the North Devon VMCA is managed by the Devon wildlife Trust who employ a full time Marine Awareness Officer as well as a number of seasonal rangers. The main focus of the VMCA is to raise people's understanding and enjoyment of the marine environment and to encourage them to discover

and wonderful sea life to be
found on our doorsteps.
