The skylark is renowned for its display flight, vertically up in the air and their call, a relentless liquid 'chirrup' song.
Its recent and dramatic population declines make it a Red List species.
The skylark is one of many birds which nest on the ground on open moorland and can fail to rear it's young if disturbed. It is to protect species like this that you are asked to keep your dog on a lead on access land between March 1st and July 31st.
